Friday preview: business, price and market mood

TEST PREVIEW for Friday, October 23, 2026. Prepared Thursday night, October 22, Chicago time. This is a format and learning-layer test, not Friday's completed market scan. It reuses the October 22 research baseline: US prices are October 21 closes, not executable prices or October 22 closes. Foreign endpoints are specified in the watchlist. Selected official releases were re-opened tonight; a fresh all-24 news/filings/quote scan was not performed. Unverified fields remain explicit.

Biggest takeaway

Better business results and a good investment price are different questions. Honeywell raised its outlook, but its retained price still demands execution; Uber offers a stronger cash-valuation argument, with serious competitive and spending risks. No short-term return is promised.

Market mood and what it means

No clear new sentiment signal is established in this preview. We have not verified tonight's sector-fund flows, so a falling technology share price is not proof that institutions are buying industrial stocks. Honeywell offers a more useful distinction: its October 22 results improved the business outlook, but that does not automatically make its shares inexpensive. Sentiment means investors' confidence or fear; fundamentals mean sales, profits and cash. Over months, changing expectations can dominate prices. Over years, durable cash growth and the price paid matter more, although neither prevents losses. Today's lesson: ask whether a setback changes future cash generation, or merely what investors are willing to pay for it. A 15% gain means $150 on $1,000, before costs; always add the holding period and the risk taken. That is an illustration, not a forecast.

Meaningful changes already verified in the October 22 baseline

Honeywell raised its adjusted earnings and cash-flow outlook on October 22. IBM raised its expected full-year cash-flow improvement after October 21 results. QuantumScape announced a planned production expansion, not proven commercial output. These are carried-forward developments, not newly discovered Friday news. Research views are retained, not upgraded because prices moved. [214] [205] [222]

How to use the test

The email gives the short decision framework; this PDF retains the full watchlist and deeper evidence. Missing histories or clean post-separation financial comparisons are not replaced with estimates. The production edition must refresh prices and the full-company event scan before publication.

Honeywell material earnings review

Good business? Yes: organic growth and margins are improving in its standalone automation businesses.

Is the price reasonable? Not clearly cheap at 25.5 x management-adjusted forecast profits; solid execution is already required.

Bull case: Automation demand converts backlog into profitable sales; disciplined costs expand cash margins. Quantinuum is optional upside, not the near-term profit thesis.

Bear case: Industrial spending slows or separation costs persist; adjusted numbers exclude real cash costs and quantum investment losses.

Dividend snapshot: 1.30%; $0.70 quarterly. Q3 dividends $240 M covered by continuing income attributable to Honeywell $767 M and simple FCF $530 M.

Price and review: USD 214.73; 2026-10-21 16:00 EDT close (15:00 Chicago). Risk 3/5. Wait for stronger evidence. Next check: Oct 22 call 07:30 CDT; Nov 13 dividend record.

1. Business and demand

After the June 29 separation, HON is an automation business rather than the old aerospace-heavy conglomerate. Q3 sales $4.994 B: Building $2.020 B (40%), Process $1.859 B(37%), Industrial $1.115 B(22%), rounded calculated mix. Reported growth 1% versus organic 7%; organic excludes acquisitions, divestitures and currency effects. All three segments reported positive organic growth. Quantum exposure is not the primary current sales business.

2. Opportunity and strongest objection

The October 22 earnings release raises the operating outlook. My judgment: this validates stronger business performance but does not turn 25.5 x forecast profits into a bargain. Strongest argument against waiting: resilient automation orders and margin execution could justify the premium for years.

3. Price versus business quality

$214.73 divided by management's new adjusted EPS $8.40-8.45 gives 25.41-25.56 x. That replaces the older $8.05-8.35 forecast, so quoting the old multiple is stale. GAAP profit is affected by disposals and other nonrecurring items; a low screen P/E is not a clean signal. A comparable five-year post-separation range does not exist. Old-conglomerate year-end multiples are not equivalent exposure. Same-date peer-normalized multiples were not verified; no unsupported assertion that HON is cheaper than Emerson/Rockwell.

4. Financial health and cash trend

Segment margin 21.3%, up from 17.6%; Process margin fell despite growth, illustrating acquisition-mix risk. Quarter cash-from-operations $607 M less $77 M capex gives $530 M simple FCF. Management-adjusted $688 M adds back $158 M separation cash costs: these costs are real. Cash and short-term investments $6.186 B; total current/long-term borrowings $16.593 B. Q3 stock-based compensation $104 M versus $23 M is an economic cost. Comparable diluted share-count trend and clean current-scope TTM FCF not verified because of the reverse split/separation. Do not fill those gaps with old-conglomerate figures.

5. Evidence versus excitement

Backlog about $19 B, up 7% excluding divested businesses, supports future demand but does not equal earned profit. Quantinuum investment losses of $112 M after tax were excluded from adjusted EPS. The automation case should work without expecting quantum to fund dividends soon. Management's Investor Day 2029 framework includes organic 4-6% growth,24% segment margin, $12 EPS and more than $3 B FCF; these are future targets, not present results or guaranteed stock returns.

6. Dividend and safer income comparison

The September 25 declaration is $0.70 quarterly, record November 13, payment December 4. Annualized $2.80/$214.73=1.30%. Q3 cash dividends $240 M were covered by simple FCF $530 M and continuing earnings. Current-scope TTM coverage not verified. Compare with one-year Treasury 4.52% on October 21; a smaller stock dividend may accompany growth, but neither growth nor share-price appreciation is assured. Dividend cash, price movement and bank/Treasury interest remain separate.

7. Next decision point

Repeated organic growth and margin improvement with lower separation cash costs would strengthen the case. Order cancellations, weaker cash conversion or persistent adjustments weaken it. October 22 call 07:30 CDT confirmed; next quarter's reporting date unconfirmed. Review its completed call before treating management Q&A as known.

Honeywell Technologies history analyst expectations and economic risks

Cash and comparability: latest quarter simple FCF $530 M versus adjusted $688 M. Management FY 2026 adjusted FCF forecast rises $2.0 B→$2.1 B. A consistent multi-year current-perimeter FCF trend has not been verified and is not replaced with the former conglomerate's cash figures.

Historical performance: June 29,2026 one-for-two reverse split and aerospace separation, plus previous business distributions, require dividend-and-distribution-adjusted total-return history. Raw YTD price comparisons are misleading. Matched 1/3/5-year total returns, S&P 500/peer chart and drawdowns not verified. A reliable distribution-adjusted chart is therefore not provided. Suitable future peers Emerson/Rockwell with disclosed mix differences; compare identical USD endpoints and include distribution value. Survivorship bias means considering failed turnaround cases as well as successful automation peers.

Analyst expectations: Stock Analysis/S&P Global retrieved October 22,24 analysts: 14 buy,9 hold,1 sell. Twelve-month USD median 255, mean 254.91, low 186/high 303. FY 2026 sales $20.15 B/EPS $8.30; FY 2027$20.55 B/$9.82. This aggregate appears pre-results: management's new EPS floor 8.40 is above that 8.30 consensus. Do not call these forecasts current post-call consensus. Separately dated target changes: Mizuho 265→255 October 15, Citi 279→270 October 12, JPMorgan 255→240 October 9. No verified after-results target or earnings-estimate revision series yet. Targets are opinions, not promised returns.

Economic risks: high rates can defer customers' plant/building capital spending and compress premium valuations. Oil/energy volatility can support some process investments but delay others and raise operating/input costs; the exposure is not a one-direction oil bet. Inflation in components and labor pressures margins unless pricing/productivity offsets it. Currency translation and international demand affect reported growth. Historical old-conglomerate macro behavior is not a clean proxy for today's separated portfolio.

Bull: organic growth and backlog conversion lift automation cash margins with separation costs fading. Base: moderate growth and execution broadly near guidance, with quantum contributing little distributable cash. Bear: industrial capex slows, margin mix deteriorates and costs persist; today's multiple leaves less room for disappointment. Evidence to strengthen/invalidate each: segment organic sales, backlog conversion, actual unadjusted cash flow and debt reduction, not a one-day price move.

UPS | business and valuation

Good business? Yes, an established delivery network, but profitability and dividend coverage need improvement. Q2 revenue rose 7.6%; GAAP operating margin was 4.1%.

Price reasonable? Not obviously cheap at 13.8 times management’s 2026 adjusted earnings forecast. A mid-cycle earnings estimate is not verified, and near-full cash dividend payout reduces flexibility.

Bull case: Network productivity and stable cash generation could support the dividend despite slow demand.

Bear case: The dividend consumes nearly all trailing free cash flow, leaving limited cash flexibility.

Dividend yield: 6.59%; $1.64 quarterly unchanged. TTM cash dividends $5.409 B consume 99% of simple FCF $5.457 B.

Snapshot: USD 99.57; 2026-10-21 16:00 EDT close (15:00 Chicago). Risk 3/5; Wait for stronger evidence.

1. Business and demand

UPS sells parcel delivery and logistics. Businesses and consumers pay for transport; volume, package mix and price determine revenue, while the network carries substantial labor and infrastructure costs. Q2 2026 sales rose 7.6%, but reported operating margin was only 4.1%. Adjusted margin removes selected costs and is not interchangeable with reported profit.

2. Opportunity and strongest objection

Why investigate: network restructuring could improve profitability. Strongest objection: revenue growth alone is insufficient if labor, network and restructuring costs consume the gain. A high dividend yield does not make a cyclical business defensive.

3. Price versus business quality

Price versus quality: 18.51 times trailing earnings versus 13.79 times management's adjusted 2026 EPS forecast of USD 7.22 at the retained close. EPS means profit per share. The lower forward multiple assumes forecast improvement; it is not proof shares are cheap. Sampled 2021-25 year-end P/E was 13.02-19.97 times. A defensible mid-cycle profit estimate and same-date normalized FedEx comparison are not verified.

4. Financial health

Financial health: trailing cash from operations less capex to June 2026 was USD 5.457 billion, versus USD 5.409 billion dividends, about 99% of this cash measure. Latest debt, share-count trend and a consistent multi-year FCF series are not verified here. The narrow cash cushion is a verified concern, not a prediction of a dividend cut.

5. Evidence versus excitement

Evidence versus excitement: the Q2 release increased management forecasts, but the next results must show whether pricing and productivity translate into reported earnings and recurring cash rather than only adjusted improvements.

6. Dividend and income comparison

Dividend: USD 1.64 quarterly, retained annualized yield 6.59%. It is almost fully consuming trailing simple FCF; earnings coverage on a clean comparable trailing basis is not verified in this test. The October 21 one-year Treasury yield was 4.52%, but stock dividends can be cut and capital value can fall. The higher yield is not free extra income.

7. Next decision point

Next decision point: October 27 results and 07:30 Chicago call, baseline issuer-confirmed. Better reported margin and materially wider cash dividend coverage strengthen the case; deteriorating volume, cash or guidance weaken it.

Source basis: Retained October 22 research; figures are not refreshed quotes. [156] [157] [158] [159] [160] [161] [162] [163]

UPS | history, expectations and learning

Historical performance

Matched dividend-reinvested 1-, 3- and 5-year returns, peer/S&P 500 total-return chart and drawdowns are not verified for this test. No price-only chart is presented as total return. The watchlist daily/YTD moves are price-only and exclude dividends. Comparisons would need identical endpoints, currencies, corporate-action treatment and fees. Selected surviving peers would also carry survivorship bias.

Cash, valuation and analyst expectations

Trailing P/E 18.51 x; FY 2026 management adjusted EPS $7.22 implies 13.79 x. FY 2021-25 year-end trailing observations 13.02-19.97 x; not a full range. Mid-cycle earnings not verified. TTM Jun 30 2026: USD 5.457 B, OCF less capex A consistent multi-year cash trend and a dated complete analyst count/rating distribution/median/low-high target/horizon/revision series are not verified in this test. No target return is inferred. Analyst consensus is opinion and can be wrong, not a promise.

Economic risks and temporary versus lasting damage

Weak consumer/business demand reduces package volume while many network costs remain. Wage inflation can compress margin unless pricing/productivity offset it. Fuel prices affect costs, with surcharge recovery subject to timing and mix. A recession-related volume dip could be temporary; enduring loss of profitable volume would be more serious. Historical same-basis sensitivity estimates are not verified; correlation would not by itself establish cause.

Bull, base and bear

Bull: Network productivity and stable cash generation could support the dividend despite slow demand. Base: progress is uneven and must be demonstrated in recurring cash rather than assumed from a rebound. Bear: The dividend consumes nearly all trailing free cash flow, leaving limited cash flexibility. The concrete measures in the next-decision section are the evidence that would strengthen or invalidate these narratives; no probabilities or price targets are assigned.

Months versus years

Over months, earnings surprises and changing expectations can dominate the share price. Over years, cash economics and the original valuation matter more. More time does not automatically repair an impaired business or justify overpaying. Learning question: what evidence would show this specific setback is temporary, and what would prove the thesis wrong?

FedEx | business and valuation

Good business? Yes, a major profitable parcel network, but the separated company still has execution and demand risks.

Price reasonable? Potentially reasonable at 16.5-17.6 times management’s current-calendar-year adjusted earnings forecast, but clean post-spin cash-flow comparisons are incomplete. Wait for stronger evidence.

Bull case: Post-separation execution could improve earnings, but comparable cash evidence is still needed.

Bear case: Separation and fiscal-year changes make old cash and valuation comparisons unreliable.

Dividend yield: 1.64%; $1.22 quarterly post-separation. Current-scope FCF coverage not verified.

Snapshot: USD 298.22; 2026-10-21 16:00 EDT close (15:00 Chicago). Risk 3/5; Wait for stronger evidence.

1. Business and demand

FedEx transports parcels and freight through its retained network, but FedEx Freight was separated on June 1, 2026. The old consolidated company and current FDX are not the same investment exposure. Current-scope latest-quarter growth is not verified here; the former group's growth must not be substituted.

2. Opportunity and strongest objection

Why investigate: network efficiency and sharper management focus may improve the remaining parcel business. Strongest objection: separation costs, trade softness and network integration can offset savings. A smaller corporate perimeter can make headline comparisons misleading.

3. Price versus business quality

Price versus quality: the retained USD 298.22 close is 16.48-17.65 times management's adjusted calendar-2026 EPS forecast of USD 16.90-18.10. These are forecast profits, not trailing actual earnings. A comparable post-spin five-year range, mid-cycle earnings and same-basis peer valuation are not verified.

4. Financial health

Financial health: current-scope trailing FCF is not verified. Former May-2026 fiscal-year FCF of USD 5.116 billion included Freight and is not a clean substitute. Recast earnings, continuing cash flow, debt allocation, capital spending and share count must be measured on the same perimeter; this preview does not assert missing values.

5. Evidence versus excitement

Evidence versus excitement: operational savings matter only if service quality and customer demand remain healthy. Management targets are promises to test against subsequent reported results, not earned savings today.

6. Dividend and income comparison

Dividend: USD 1.22 quarterly after separation; retained annualized yield 1.64%. Current-scope earnings and FCF coverage are not verified. Compare cautiously with the dated 4.52% one-year Treasury reference: dividends plus future price changes are different from fixed-income interest.

7. Next decision point

Next decision point: October 28 results/call at 16:30 Chicago, issuer-confirmed in baseline. Continuing-business cash, cost savings and comparable demand evidence would clarify valuation. The fiscal calendar changed to December year-end, so historical periods require reconciliation.

Historical performance

Matched dividend-reinvested 1-, 3- and 5-year returns, peer/S&P 500 total-return chart and drawdowns are not verified for this test. No price-only chart is presented as total return. Comparisons would need identical endpoints, currencies, corporate-action treatment and fees. Selected surviving peers would also carry survivorship bias.

Cash, valuation and analyst expectations

16.48-17.65 x calendar 2026 management adjusted EPS $16.90-18.10. Comparable five-year range and mid-cycle earnings not verified. Current-scope TTM not verified. FY May 2026 USD 5.116 B includes Freight and is not comparable. A consistent multi-year cash trend and a dated complete analyst count/rating distribution/median/low-high target/horizon/revision series are not verified in this test. No target return is inferred. Analyst consensus is opinion and can be wrong, not a promise.

Economic risks and temporary versus lasting damage

International trade and tariffs can change shipment volume and routes. Fuel costs and surcharge timing affect margins. Higher rates can weaken business activity and increase financing expense. A temporary shipping slowdown differs from persistently poor economics after separation. Historical same-basis sensitivity estimates are not verified; correlation would not by itself establish cause.

Bull, base and bear

Uber Technologies | business and valuation

Good business? Yes: Q2 revenue grew 12%, trips grew 18%, and operating profit rose 30%. Cash generation is real, although investment gains distort net income.

Price reasonable? Worth considering for a multiyear thesis at 13.65 times trailing free cash flow, a 7.33% cash yield. Acquisitions, autonomous-driving commitments and regulation could consume that apparent cushion.

Bull case: An established network and substantial cash generation can support a reasonable valuation despite regulatory risk.

Bear case: Robotaxis may weaken Uber's economics; large pending acquisitions and AV commitments mean reported FCF is not all spare cash.

Dividend yield: None; 0% yield. No cash-dividend plans in June 2026 10-Q.

Snapshot: USD 67.62; 2026-10-21 16:00 EDT close (15:00 Chicago). Risk 3/5; Worth considering at this valuation.

1. Business and demand

Uber connects riders and drivers and customers and delivery merchants. The Q2 2026 release reports revenue growth of 12% and trips growth of 18%; gross bookings, the total transaction value, are not the same as Uber revenue. Riders, merchants and advertisers support the economics. Demand growth is real, but the company must retain an attractive share of each transaction.

2. Opportunity and strongest objection

Why investigate: the retained 7.33% trailing free-cash-flow yield offers a tangible valuation argument, not simply a falling share price. Strongest objection: acquisition funding and autonomous-vehicle commitments may absorb cash that looks available on a headline screen.

3. Price versus business quality

Price versus quality: 13.65 times trailing FCF and 14.75 times trailing earnings at the October 21 close. Net income includes investment effects, so operating profit and cash are cleaner cross-checks. Sampled 2022-25 year-end P/FCF observations of 17.39-126.47 times are not a continuous range; the extreme early value is not a normal target. Same-date normalized peer valuation is not verified.

4. Financial health

Financial health: trailing FCF to June 2026 was USD 10.12 billion in the retained vendor calculation, defined as operating cash less capital expenditure. Latest debt, capex, share-count changes and a fully reconciled multi-year series are not verified in this preview. Do not equate unverified with zero. Share-based pay is a real owner cost even when added back in operating cash flow.

5. Evidence versus excitement

Evidence versus excitement: trips, operating earnings and cash support the business independently of a robotaxi story. Autonomous vehicles could supply more rides through Uber, or powerful fleet owners could capture more economics themselves. The investment question is bargaining power and actual cash per trip, not whether the technology is impressive.

6. Dividend and income comparison

Dividend: none. The cash yield is a valuation ratio, not cash income paid to shareholders. It cannot be compared directly with a bank interest payment as if both were guaranteed distributions.

7. Next decision point

Next decision point: November 4 earnings call, 07:00 Chicago CST, issuer-confirmed in the baseline. Track trip growth, operating margin and cash after acquisition/vehicle commitments. Strong cash growth with stable platform economics supports the view; deteriorating unit economics weakens it.

TTM Jun 30 2026: $10.12 B operating cash less capital spending, vendor rounded A consistent multi-year cash trend and a dated complete analyst count/rating distribution/median/low-high target/horizon/revision series are not verified in this test. No target return is inferred. Analyst consensus is opinion and can be wrong, not a promise.

Economic risks and temporary versus lasting damage

A slowdown can reduce discretionary rides and delivery demand. Higher fuel prices can pressure driver economics and fares, even though Uber is not simply an owner of all vehicles. Rates affect acquisition financing and the multiple paid for future cash. Autonomous competition is a structural risk, not merely market mood. Historical same-basis sensitivity estimates are not verified; correlation would not by itself establish cause.

Bull, base and bear

Bull: An established network and substantial cash generation can support a reasonable valuation despite regulatory risk. Boeing | business and valuation

Good business? A valuable aerospace franchise, but not yet a consistently healthy business: Q2 revenue rose 8%, while operating margin remained only 0.6%.

Price reasonable? Not clearly reasonable on normalized profits. Trailing P/E is distorted by disposal gains and trailing free cash flow remains negative; progress in deliveries, cash flow and debt matters more.

Bull case: Better aircraft execution and customer deliveries could convert the turnaround into durable cash generation.

Bear case: Manufacturing execution, leverage and a cash-consuming turnaround remain the key risks.

Dividend yield: None; common dividend suspended since March 2020

Snapshot: USD 192.28; 2026-10-21 16:00 EDT close (15:00 Chicago). Risk 4/5; Wait for stronger evidence.

1. Business and demand

Boeing sells commercial aircraft, defense products and services. Airlines and governments fund demand, while delivery execution determines when much of the cash arrives. Q2 2026 sales grew 8%; operating margin of 0.6% shows why the franchise is not yet a consistently healthy earnings business.

2. Opportunity and strongest objection

Why investigate: better deliveries and production execution could improve cash generation. Strongest objection: safety, manufacturing and program execution can delay that recovery while debt remains a burden. A valuable franchise can still be a poor-price investment.

3. Price versus business quality

Price versus quality: trailing P/E is distorted by disposal effects and is not a reliable turnaround yardstick. Trailing simple FCF was negative USD 210 million to June 2026. A verified normalized earnings valuation, own-history comparable range and current peer-normalized comparison are not available in this preview.

4. Financial health

Financial health: demand must turn into deliveries, margin and cash. The retained evidence supports a heavy-debt/unreliable-profit risk score, but exact current debt, share count, capex and a reconciled multi-year cash series are not verified in this test. No numeric debt trend is invented.

5. Evidence versus excitement

Evidence versus excitement: regulatory progress is not equivalent to profitable production at scale. A larger order book can help visibility, but customer commitments still require execution and cash investment before they become profit.

6. Dividend and income comparison

Dividend: none; the common dividend has been suspended since March 2020. A recovery thesis depends on operating and balance-sheet improvement, not current shareholder income.

7. Next decision point

Next decision point: October 27 call at 09:30 Chicago, issuer-confirmed in baseline. Stronger deliveries accompanied by recurring positive cash and lower debt would strengthen the case. New production setbacks, cash burn or deteriorating guidance would weaken it.

Source basis: Retained October 22 research; figures are not refreshed quotes. [141] [142] [143] [144] [145] [146] [147] [148]

Cash, valuation and analyst expectations

P/E not useful as a turnaround measure: recent earnings include disposal effects; TTM FCF negative. Comparable normalized range not verified. TTM Jun 30 2026: -USD 0.210 B, calculated OCF less capex A consistent multi-year cash trend and a dated complete analyst count/rating distribution/median/low-high target/horizon/revision series are not verified in this test. No target return is inferred. Analyst consensus is opinion and can be wrong, not a promise.

Economic risks and temporary versus lasting damage

Airline profitability and financing costs influence aircraft demand and customer ability to take delivery. Supplier and labor inflation can increase production costs. Geopolitical restrictions can affect sales and supply chains. A short delivery delay is different from recurring safety or production failures. Historical same-basis sensitivity estimates are not verified; correlation would not by itself establish cause.

Bull, base and bear

IBM material earnings review

Good business? Yes, established cash-generating software and services; the latest quarter supports resilience, not an exponential-growth claim.

Is the price reasonable? A plausible price, not an obvious bargain: roughly 20.4 x FY 2026 analyst-adjusted earnings while reported sales grow 5%.

Bull case: Recurring software and hybrid-cloud demand fund dividends, debt reduction and new technology without depending on quantum profits today.

Bear case: Consulting is flat and mainframes cyclical; acquisition spending and debt can absorb the cash-flow improvement.

Dividend snapshot: 2.69%; $1.69 quarterly. Q3 dividend $1.6 B covered by GAAP earnings $2.2 B and IBM-defined FCF $3.0 B.

Price and review: USD 251.46; 2026-10-21 16:00 EDT close (15:00 Chicago). Risk 2/5. Wait for stronger evidence. Next check: Nov 10 dividend record; earnings unconfirmed.

1. Business and demand

IBM sells enterprise software, consulting and infrastructure. Q3 software sales $7.804 B represent 46% of $17.103 B total, consulting 31%, infrastructure 22% (rounded calculated shares). Reported growth was 5%, or 6% holding currencies constant. Software grew 8%; consulting was flat; infrastructure grew 4%. Quantum is not separately disclosed as a material revenue segment. Treat it as uncertain future optionality rather than today's earnings engine.

2. Opportunity and strongest objection

The October 21 release increased management's expected full-year cash-flow improvement. My judgment: durable cash gives IBM room to fund its business, but a slightly better forecast does not establish that the stock is cheap. The strongest argument against waiting is that software growth and cash generation may continue while an investor waits for a lower multiple.

3. Price versus business quality

Price/earnings means the price paid per dollar of annual profit. The vendor's FY 2026 consensus EPS is $12.31; $251.46 divided by $12.31 is 20.43 x. This is a forecast, not earned profit. FY 2021-25 year-end trailing P/E observations were 20.87,77.72,19.91,33.75 and 26.14 x. These are five sampled dates, not the full five-year trading range. Pension and tax effects distort comparisons. Vendor standard FCF yield 6.19% compares with sampled year-end 4.37-8.96%; IBM's own definition differs. Same-date normalized peer multiples were not verified, so no claim that IBM is cheapest among Microsoft/Oracle is justified.

4. Financial health and cash trend

Q3 gross margin 56.8% versus 57.3% a year earlier; non-GAAP pretax margin improved to 19.3% from 18.6%. Cash and marketable securities $11.1 B, debt $63.8 B including $12.7 B financing debt. YTD acquisitions consumed $11.4 B. Quarter capex net of disposals $457 M. Vendor outstanding share count 942.13 M, up 0.71% year over year, means stock compensation/dilution should not be ignored. Full-year constant-currency sales forecast remains 4-5%. The new cash forecast is an improvement, not evidence every acquisition promise has been delivered.

5. Evidence versus excitement

Software demand and actual cash generation support a real business thesis. Quantum's future economics remain uncertain. IBM's published roadmap targets fault-tolerant computing in 2029; that is management's development objective, not a guaranteed date for profitable customer adoption. GPUs and quantum machines are not interchangeable: IBM's present cash flow does not require quantum to replace ordinary computing.

6. Dividend and safer income comparison

$1.69 per quarter annualizes to $6.76, or 2.69% of the close. Q3 GAAP earnings about $2.2 B and company-defined cash flow about $3.0 B cover approximately $1.6 B paid dividends. The yield is below the verified October 21 one-year Treasury 4.52%. Equity dividends can change and share value can fall; Treasury interest and principal repayment are a different proposition, while FDIC-insured CDs protect eligible principal within limits. Do not combine dividend yield with an invented price gain.

7. Next decision point

Sustained software-led growth and acquisition benefits without deteriorating cash conversion would strengthen it. Persistent consulting weakness, lower margins or further debt accumulation would weaken it. Next earnings date unconfirmed; confirmed dividend record November 10 and payment December 10.

IBM history analyst expectations and economic risks

Cash trend, consistently defined: IBM company-defined FCF $11.210 B FY 2023, $12.749 B FY 2024, $14.734 B FY 2025. Latest TTM to September 30 calculated $15.340 B =14.734+7.787-7.181. IBM excludes financing-receivable changes and uses net capital spending, so this is not the plain cash-from-operations-minus-capex measure used for all peers. Forecast for 2026 is improvement of more than $1 B versus 2025.

Historical performance: calculated from Yahoo dividend-adjusted daily closes and the S&P 500 Total Return index, all USD and ending October 21, 2026. One year from October 21, 2025: IBM -8.53%, Microsoft +3.80%, S&P 500 +16.51%. Three years from October 20, 2023 (October 21 was not a trading day): IBM +101.09%, Microsoft +66.97%, S&P 500 +90.94%. Largest daily-close peak-to-trough losses within that three-year window: IBM -37.50%, Microsoft -34.50%, S&P 500 -18.75%. Dividends are reflected in the adjusted-close series; these are not price-only returns. Five-year comparison remains not verified because the treatment of IBM's 2021 Kyndryl distribution was not independently validated. Microsoft is a useful but imperfect software/cloud peer; this selected surviving-peer comparison does not represent all companies an investor could have selected. A strong historical return is not a forecast.

Analyst snapshot: S&P Global data through Stock Analysis, retrieved October 22. 25 analysts: 12 buy,11 hold,2 sell (strong ratings grouped). Twelve-month USD target median 240, mean 242.65, low 174/high 297. FY 2026 sales consensus $70.38 B/EPS $12.31; FY 2027$73.10 B/$13.15. These are analyst opinions, not management guidance or promised returns. The same page separately reports October 22 target changes: Goldman 270→300, JPMorgan 250→269, UBS 236→243, Susquehanna 253→256. The latest 300 target exceeds the aggregate's 297 high, indicating different update timing: do not combine them into a fresh unified consensus. Dated earnings/sales estimate revision histories not verified.

Economic risks: higher interest rates increase refinancing costs and can reduce the value investors pay for future earnings. Weak enterprise budgets delay consulting projects and discretionary software work. Currency changes alter translated overseas revenue; constant-currency figures separate this translation effect but do not erase real local demand risk. A documented same-basis historical macro sensitivity estimate is not verified; do not infer causation from chart correlations.

Bull narrative: recurring software growth outlasts the hardware cycle and strengthens cash generation. Evidence needed: rising organic software sales and sustained cash conversion. Base: moderate growth with consulting softness, no material near-term quantum contribution. Bear: acquisition leverage and weak client spending outweigh software resilience. Evidence invalidating the bear: multi-quarter organic acceleration and falling debt without cutting productive investment.

QuantumScape material earnings and manufacturing review

Good business? Not yet an established profitable business. Technical progress is real, but commercial-scale economics remain unproven.

Is the price reasonable? No verified profit or sales basis establishes that USD 3.98 is cheap. The planned 2028 line remains an execution bet.

Bull case: The operational pilot line and equipment partners could convert promising batteries into scalable products across cars, AI data centers and defense.

Bear case: A planned plant is not profitable mass production. Poor yields, delays or more financing could outweigh technical progress.

Dividend snapshot: None

Price and review: USD 3.98; October 21, 2026, 4:00 p.m. ET close. Risk 5/5. Highly speculative. Next check: Nov 11 symposium; confirmed.

1. Business and demand

QuantumScape develops solid-state lithium-metal batteries. It is still commercializing its technology, not operating a mature battery-sales business. Its October 21 update reported new customer engagement and an operating Eagle pilot line. The new 100-MWh line targets AI data centers, aerospace and defense; engineering is underway and production is a management target for 2028, not a verified achieved milestone.

2. Why consider it, and the strongest objection

Bull case: manufacturing partners could turn laboratory and pilot-line performance into useful products at commercial scale. Diversifying beyond vehicles may broaden demand. Case against the concern: customer billings and named manufacturing partners are more tangible than a laboratory-only story. Bear case: demand for samples does not demonstrate repeat profitable orders, production yield or competitive cost. The reported expansion does not by itself justify a less speculative view.

3. Is the price reasonable?

At the October 21 close of USD 3.98, P/E (price divided by profit per share) and price/sales are not meaningful because commercial GAAP revenue and profits are absent. The more useful questions are cash consumption, dilution (more shares dividing ownership) and milestones delivered. A fall in the stock is not evidence of undervaluation. A comparable five-year cash-runway valuation range is not verified; valuation against Solid Power cannot be reduced to a useful earnings multiple either.

4. Is the business healthier?

Q3 net loss narrowed to USD 84.5M from USD 105.8M; operating cash outflow was USD 55.1M and capital spending USD 4.4M. Liquidity ended September at USD 819.8M. Q3 weighted-average shares increased to 620.6M from 588.7M, so ownership dilution remains relevant. Share-based pay was USD 16.3M in Q3 and is a real economic cost. Operating liabilities are not the same thing as bank debt: the balance sheet reports USD 65.0M of combined operating and finance lease liabilities. No updated funding-end date is assumed from one quarter’s burn.

5. Promises versus results

The Eagle pilot line is operating, but the 100-MWh factory is still planned. Management retained 2026 adjusted EBITDA loss guidance of USD 250M-275M and capital-spending guidance of USD 27M-37M. Adjusted EBITDA excludes costs and is not free cash flow. USD 9.8M in quarterly billings measures invoices, not recognized GAAP sales. The next test is repeatable production quality, customer qualification and sustained commercial receipts, not an addressable-market forecast.

6. Dividend and cash trend

No dividend. Free cash flow means operating cash flow minus capital spending. S&P Global/Stock Analysis reports USD -376.87M in 2022, -324.65M in 2023, -336.81M in 2024, -278.75M in 2025 and -258.79M for the twelve months to September 2026. Burn is improving but remains substantial. There is no dividend income to compare with a one-year Treasury or insured CD. Unlike an insured bank deposit within insurance limits, this stock does not protect principal.

7. What would change the view?

The November 11, 2026 Solid-State Battery Symposium in Kyoto is confirmed in the shareholder letter. Watch for independently supportable manufacturing yields, unit costs, customer qualification and paid commercial volume. A credible funded scale-up would strengthen the case; missed technical milestones or worsening burn would weaken it. Next quarterly earnings date is unconfirmed.

QuantumScape history analyst expectations and economic risks

Historical returns use fresh Yahoo Finance adjusted-close data retrieved October 22, 2026, ending October 21. All comparisons are cumulative USD total returns including applicable reinvested dividends, with identical endpoints within each horizon. The three-year start is October 20, 2023 because October 21 was not a trading day. 1y: QS -74.36%; Solid Power -66.34%; S&P 500 total return +16.51%. Dates: 2025-10-21 through 2026-10-21. 3y: QS -31.85%; Solid Power +44.44%; S&P 500 total return +90.94%. Dates: 2023-10-20 through 2026-10-21. 5y: QS -84.02%; Solid Power not available; S&P 500 total return +83.08%. Dates: 2021-10-21 through 2026-10-21. Largest daily-close QS drawdown in the five-year window: -91.45%, from 2021-11-15 to 2025-04-08. This is not an intraday loss measure. Solid Power’s operating-company listing began December 9, 2021, so a five-year comparison is unavailable; shell-SPAC history is excluded. These surviving firms are examples, not a survivorship-free investment strategy. Severe losses are shown, and recovery is not assumed. Analyst consensus checked October 22: S&P Global via Stock Analysis shows 9 analysts, 0 buy, 7 hold and 2 strong sell. Twelve-month USD targets: median 6.50, mean 5.79, low 2.50, high 8.30. The aggregate is not a fresh unanimous post-earnings reassessment. Baird separately cut its target from USD 8 to USD 6 on October 22 and retained Hold; this individual action is not the same population as the aggregate. Dated earnings and sales estimate revision history is not verified. Targets are opinions, not promised returns. Economic risks: higher interest rates raise the cost of future financing and reduce the present value of distant potential profits. Energy, equipment and labor inflation can make manufacturing more expensive before scale economies arrive. Vehicle-demand weakness can delay customer programs; AI-center demand diversifies applications but brings different qualification requirements. The company has no mature commercial cycle against which to make a reliable historical recession comparison. Qualitative scenarios: Bull, partners deliver efficient scale-up and repeat commercial customers; proof would be disclosed yield, cost and sales evidence. Base, testing and early billings progress while cash burn continues; a production plan alone does not change the view. Bear, cost or qualification delays consume cash and require dilutive financing; sustained cash generation would invalidate that concern. No scenario is a target price, probability or return forecast.

Foreign listings and comparison cautions

Foreign shares and currency

Panasonic Holdings (6752): JPY 3,700; approximately USD 23.53; October 22, 2026, 3:30 p.m. JST close, delayed quote. Approximate USD equivalent calculated at JPY 157.23 per USD, midpoint of Bank of Japan October 22, 2026 17:00 JST quote of 157.22-157.24. Not an executable conversion. A US investor may use Tokyo shares through a broker offering Japan trading or OTC ADR PCRHY. Citi’s June 4, 2026 notice confirms 1 ordinary share per ADR. Do not use the terminated old PCRFY program. Forecast JPY 54 is covered by management forecast EPS of JPY 192.73 and TTM FCF of JPY 236.97B versus roughly JPY 126B annual payout at the current share count. The forecast is not guaranteed; FY2026 FCF was much weaker. [240] [241] [242] [243] [244] [245] [246] [247]

CATL (3750): HKD 338.40; approximately USD 43.12; October 22, 2026, 4:08 p.m. HKT delayed close. Approximate USD at ECB October 21, 2026 reference rates: EUR 1 = USD 1.1234 and HKD 8.8155. Currency conversion is not a tradable quote. Hong Kong 3750 shares via a broker offering Hong Kong trading; OTC ADR CYATY is also shown by Citi’s current depositary directory. Broker eligibility, fees and liquidity vary. Shenzhen 300750 is the same company and is not counted again. Trailing dividend HKD 9.512 per H share includes special payments; 9.512 / 338.40 = 2.81%, not a forward promise. TTM FCF exceeds the broader dividends/profit distributions/interest line, but nine-month FCF does not. Clean ordinary-share FCF payout coverage is not verified separately. Checked October 22: CATL appears on the June 10, 2026 Do D Section 1260H list. No CATL/Contemporary Amperex match was found in Treasury’s current published NS-CMIC securities-ban list. The Do D designation alone is not a US retail securities ban. This is not a claim that every government or broker restriction has been cleared; broker access and future designations can change. [248] [249] [250] [251] [252] [253] [254] [255] [256] [257]

LG Electronics (066570): KRW 160,000 (approximately USD 120.81); Oct 22 2026 15:30 KST delayed closing quote (01:30 Chicago); FX Oct 22 12:50 UTC. Approximate USD equivalent uses 1324.4 KRW per USD observed 2026-10-22 12:50:09 UTC. It is not an executable exchange quote. The requested common stock 066570 requires a broker supporting Korea Exchange trading. Citi identifies LGEIY as a unitary GDR/PORTAL security, not a broadly accessible US-listed retail ADR; retail eligibility is not verified. London preferred-share GDRs are not the same common listing. Do not substitute LGDisplay, LGEnergy Solution or LGIndia. [288] [289] [290] [291] [292] [293] [294] [295] [296] [297] [298] [299] [300] [301] [276] [302]

Corporate actions and comparability

Honeywell: June 2026 aerospace separation and reverse split mean a raw price-history comparison can omit distributed value. Clean current-scope TTM cash and five-year valuation histories are not verified.

FedEx: The June 1 Freight spin-off and move to a December year end create a seven-month June-December 2026 transition. Legacy May-year financials include a different business scope; do not interpret a raw YTD price change as the owner's total return. [174]

Factorial: The operating-company listing began June 8, 2026 after its merger. Predecessor SPAC history is not used to invent YTD or multiyear operating-company returns. [233]

Cash definitions: IBM excludes financing-receivable changes and uses net capex. Amazon uses its company definition. AMD uses continuing-operations cash flow. Arm's reported FCF includes intangible spending. LG's standardized CFO-minus-PPE measure excludes net intangible investment; subtracting it lowers TTM FCF to KRW 1.720 trillion. These are not interchangeable measures.

Earnings distortions: Alphabet and Amazon trailing P/Es include investment gains; IBM includes tax/pension effects; Broadcom includes acquisition accounting effects. An apparently low trailing multiple need not represent repeatable operating earnings.

Sector rotation and measuring a result

Sector rotation means investors shift relative exposure between parts of the market. Relative price moves can be consistent with rotation but do not prove fund flows or the reason behind them. This preview has no verified fresh institutional-flow data.

A defensive fund targets businesses expected to hold up relatively better when the economy weakens, not guaranteed gains. A utility fund owns electricity, gas or water providers and can be sensitive to debt costs and interest rates. A low-volatility fund selects historically steadier shares but can still lose money. A high-dividend-yield fund emphasizes cash payouts, which may be cut. A growth fund emphasizes expected business expansion and may carry high valuations. These categories overlap; none is a substitute for reading holdings, fees and risks. No fund is being added to the company watchlist.

Hypothetical example: USD 1,000 rising 15% becomes USD 1,150 before costs. The same 15% on USD 100,000 is USD 15,000 profit, not evidence of a better percentage result. A cumulative 15% over five years is only about 2.8% annualized, assuming no deposits or withdrawals; 15% in one year is different. Neither is a forecast. Include dividends, holding period, fees, currency and losses endured. New contributions increase account value without being investment returns.

A strong question before acting: who pays this business, what drives its cash, what external event could hurt it, what evidence says that damage is temporary, and how much optimism is already in the price? AI can make factual and valuation errors as well as timing errors.

Other watchlist companies

Separate business-quality and price judgments for the companies outside today's full reviews. A strong business can still be expensive, and a low multiple can reflect genuine operating risk. Baseline evidence was reviewed October 22, 2026; not all sources were re-opened for this preview; no change in view should be inferred solely from a price move.

Cloud/AI/software

Microsoft | MSFT

Good business? Yes. June-quarter sales grew 18% and Microsoft Cloud sales grew 27%; diversified recurring products support profitability.

Is the price reasonable? Wait: profits are strong, but the cash yield is thin as investment rises.

Principal risk: AI investment may outrun lasting profit growth. Counterargument: sustained fast Azure growth could make today’s valuation reasonable over several years, although that is not a verified return forecast. [1] [2]

Amazon | AMZN

Good business? Yes operationally. June-quarter sales rose 20%, AWS 36.7%, and operating profit 43%; investment still consumes cash.

Is the price reasonable? Wait: reported P/E includes investment gains, while heavy investment leaves free cash flow negative.

Principal risk: Capacity spending keeps free cash flow negative. Counterargument: operating cash generation is growing strongly, and useful capacity may earn returns over years even while near-term FCF is negative. [27] [28]

Alphabet | GOOGL

Good business? Yes, with legal and AI-execution risks. June-quarter sales rose 24%, Cloud 82%, and operating profit 30%.

Is the price reasonable? Wait: the low reported P/E is flattered by investment gains, while cash yield is low.

Principal risk: Search economics, regulation and cash-hungry AI investment. Counterargument: existing search distribution and rapidly growing Cloud may create enough sustainable profit to justify the price over several years. [16] [17]

Oracle | ORCL

Good business? Established and growing, but financially stretched. August-quarter sales rose 30% and infrastructure cloud sales 121%; quarterly FCF was negative $5B.

Is the price reasonable? Wait: lower earnings valuation does not settle the funding and cash-flow questions.

Principal risk: Funding and construction risks despite growing demand. Counterargument: View: Wait for stronger evidence. Opportunity: contracted AI demand may translate into a much larger profitable cloud business. Concern: debt, funding and construction commitments make the business less resilient. Case against this concern: customer prepayments and successful capacity delivery can reduce funding pressure and convert a large backlog into real revenue. A lower price is not, by itself, the opportunity. [40] [41]

Snowflake | SNOW

Good business? Promising, not yet reliably GAAP-profitable. July-quarter revenue grew 35% and product revenue 37%; stock compensation remains a real cost.

Is the price reasonable? Wait: 20.93 times sales still requires sustained fast growth; stock pay is a real owner cost.

Principal risk: High sales valuation and employee stock pay. Counterargument: accelerating product demand and better margins could deliver operating leverage faster than current cautious expectations. [51] [52]

Chips

AMD | AMD

Good business? Yes, but cyclical and competitive. June-quarter revenue rose 50%; commercial AI execution and durable margins still matter.

Is the price reasonable? Wait: a substantial amount of future AI success is already priced in at 21.84 times sales.

Principal risk: At 21.84x sales, price assumes substantial lasting AI success. Counterargument: Server share gains and AI accelerator deployment can broaden the profit base. [63] [64]

Micron | MU

Good business? Profitable but highly cyclical. September-quarter sales grew about 379%; do not assume this unusually strong memory cycle persists.

Is the price reasonable? Wait: a low P/E on exceptional memory-cycle earnings does not establish a bargain.

Principal risk: The 12.29 times trailing P/E uses exceptional cycle earnings. Profit-sharing costs are not yet quantified, and memory pricing remains cyclical. Counterargument: AI memory demand and constrained supply could sustain unusually strong cash generation. [79] [80]

TSMC | TSM

Good business? Yes, with political and execution risks. September-quarter sales grew 50.9% in TWD or 41.2% in USD and operating margin reached 58.7%.

Is the price reasonable? Wait: excellent results do not by themselves prove the ADR is cheap; historical comparability remains incomplete.

Principal risk: The ADR trades at 28.89 times trailing earnings; a clean historical ADR comparison is not verified. Counterargument: Leading-edge manufacturing benefits from demand across competing chip designers. [95] [96]

FULL REPORT · ORIGINAL PAGE 21

Broadcom | AVGO

Good business? Yes, with concentrated AI demand and acquisition risks. August-quarter sales rose 86%; quarterly FCF was $13.7B.

Is the price reasonable? Wait: strong cash growth supports the business, but the valuation still depends on continued execution.

Principal risk: Concentrated AI customers, cyclicality and substantial debt leave less room for disappointment. Counterargument: Custom AI chips, networking and VMware can compound recurring cash generation. [114] [115]

Arm | ARM

Good business? Established intellectual property, but concentrated and execution-sensitive. June-quarter sales grew 22%; customer reliance and costly expansion remain.

Is the price reasonable? Wait: 46.94 times sales is demanding for 22% reported growth, even with a strong technology franchise.

Principal risk: 46.94 times sales is demanding for 22% growth; stock pay and the new silicon strategy complicate owner earnings. Counterargument: Higher royalty rates and server adoption can expand the value of its processor architecture. [128] [129]

Batteries & EVs

Panasonic Holdings | 6752

Good business? Yes, an established diversified manufacturer. Latest quarterly sales grew 6.4%; batteries are only part of the business, with Energy roughly 15% of sales.

Is the price reasonable? About 19.2x management forecast EPS requires the forecast recovery to arrive. Trailing 34.1x earnings is not obviously cheap against sampled fiscal-year-end observations.

Principal risk: Factory investment and cyclical demand can absorb profits before owners receive cash. Counterargument: Established businesses and an improving earnings mix could support cash generation after investment. [240] [241]

CATL | 3750

Good business? Yes, a profitable battery manufacturer with substantial demand. Q3 revenue rose 58.58%, but profit grew 14.54%, so sales growth is not translating proportionally into profit.

Is the price reasonable? About 15.19x constructed TTM earnings is less demanding, but cash conversion, margins and policy risks justify caution. The H-share listing has no five-year history.

Principal risk: Battery pricing pressure, capital intensity, currencies and market-access changes matter. Counterargument: Profitable scale and strong cash generation can offset part of the competitive and policy risk. [248] [249]

Factorial Energy | FAC

Good business? Promising battery technology, not yet a proven profitable business. June cash was USD 112.8M after the merger financing.

Is the price reasonable? No reliable earnings valuation. A low share price does not remove commercialization and dilution risk.

Principal risk: Commercial manufacturing, dilution and future financing remain unresolved. Counterargument: Merger financing and battery-development partnerships provide time to establish commercial evidence. [233] [234]

Lucid | LCID

Good business? Not yet a financially healthy business. Q2 revenue grew 56%, but cash burn remained substantial and Q3 deliveries were 3,806.

Is the price reasonable? No profitable earnings basis supports calling USD 3.21 cheap. The investment depends on reducing losses and avoiding repeated dilutive funding.

Principal risk: Large cash losses leave the business dependent on financing and operational progress. Counterargument: Successful product execution could improve demand, but deliveries must translate into much better cash economics. [258] [259]

Consumer & home

Nike | NKE

Good business? Valuable brand, but not yet a healthy turnaround: Q1 sales fell 4%, while gross margin improved to 42.8%.

Is the price reasonable? Not clearly cheap: 27.8-32.6 x management forecast adjusted FY 27 earnings, versus 17.98 x trailing actual earnings.

Principal risk: Sportswear, Jordan and China weakness persist; current dividends exceed cash generated after capital spending. Counterargument: Performance products and lower logistics costs can rebuild margins and demand. [264] [265]

Home Depot | HD

Good business? Yes: Q2 sales rose 5.7%, comparable sales 1.7%, and earnings remained strong.

Is the price reasonable? Reasonable rather than a bargain for a multiyear recovery: 21.98 x trailing profits and 4.82% FCF yield; pricier than Lowe’s.

Principal risk: Higher financing costs keep renovation demand weak; acquisition debt and a premium to Lowe’s leave limited room for disappointment. Counterargument: Better housing turnover and professional-customer reach can turn modest demand growth into stronger cash generation. [277] [278]

LG Electronics | 066570

Good business? Yes, with cyclical limits: appliances and vehicles are established profit sources; Q3 preliminary sales were KRW 23.83 tn.

Is the price reasonable? Not proven cheap: 35.68 x trailing earnings versus 13.36 x FY 26 analyst forecast depends on a substantial profit rebound.

Principal risk: Intense TV competition, tariff/input costs and heavy investment can erode the forecast recovery. Counterargument: Premium appliances, profitable vehicle systems and cooling can improve the mix; cash flow has strengthened. [288] [289]

Glossary and income comparison

Free cash flow or FCF: Cash from operations minus capital spending. Company definitions may differ; lease-related spending can change comparisons. TTM means the latest consecutive twelve months, not year to date.

Margin: Profit as a share of sales. Gross margin deducts production costs; operating margin also deducts operating expenses.

Guidance: Management's forecast, not a promised result.

Dividend yield: Annual cash dividend divided by share price. It excludes changes in share price. Yield may rise because the price fell, not because the dividend improved.

Dividend coverage: Compare dividends with earnings and free cash flow. A payout above 100%, or negative cash flow, can make the dividend less resilient. A board can change or suspend payments.

P/E and P/S: Price relative to annual profit or sales. A low ratio can reflect shrinking profits or high risk. P/E is not meaningful when earnings are negative. Forecast multiples are estimates and can use adjusted earnings.

FCF yield: Free cash flow divided by equity market value. A low yield requires more future cash growth to justify the price.

Stock based compensation and dilution: Share-based pay is a real cost to owners. New shares reduce each existing share's ownership unless offset by growth or repurchases.

Cash runway: How long available cash may last at an assumed spending rate. Spending and financing can change, so it is not a guarantee.

ADR and exchange rate: A US-traded receipt representing foreign shares. Receipt ratios, fees, currency moves and different closing times affect comparisons.

Mid cycle earnings: A normal operating level between a boom and a downturn, rather than one unusually good or poor year.

YTD and one day change: Price changes since the prior year end or preceding market close. They exclude dividends unless expressly stated. Corporate actions can prevent a simple like-for-like comparison.

Business risk score: An analyst judgment from 1/5, lower fragility, to 5/5, greater fragility. It is not a short-term price prediction. Risk and valuation are deliberately assessed separately.

Not verified: A reliable value was not established for this edition. It does not mean zero, and no missing number has been filled with a guess.

Dividend stocks versus insured CDs: The official one-year US Treasury par yield was 4.52% on October 21, 2026. This is a reference yield, not a quoted bank CD offer and not a stock-return forecast. Eligible insured bank CDs protect principal within applicable insurance limits; stocks do not. Early-withdrawal penalties may apply to CDs. A stock's cash dividend can be cut, and share-price losses can exceed several years of dividends. Compare after-tax income, principal risk and time horizon, not yield alone. [6]
